Original model
The latest Speedtimer chronograph takes inspiration from Seiko’s first stopwatch designed for timing winter sports. As the official timing device at a major sporting event held in Sapporo in 1972, the original stopwatch’s features were tailored for winter conditions. These included a black dial for high legibility during competitions conducted on snow.
Dial & Case
The color scheme of the new Speedtimer is inspired by the original stopwatch of 1972.
The red indexes and chronograph sub-dial at 9 o‘clock enhance legibility against the matte, sandblasted black dial, which reduces the reflection of light from the sun and snow. The theme continues with the stainless steel case thanks to the use of black hard coating.
